ANOTHER LOST FOR OUR HERITAGE VALUE!!!
Five century-old two-storey shophouses at Gambier Street were destroyed by fire. The fire was believed to have started from one of the retail shops at about 5.00 pm after its main switch exploded during a lightning strike. The fire actually spread very fast even though it was raining heavily as the partition wall of these old shophouses is made of timber... The fire destroyed two textileshops, two hardware shops and a dental clinic... one of it is JxxKwxxx optical..
However (luckily...) there are no injuries or loss of lives were reported.. hope they will take some actions to renovate or upgrade/*conserve.. the shophouses (**without spoil the heritage value of gambier street.of course...)because it is really old and also not to forget to upgrade the bomba facilities at that area!!!
LUCKILY we did take lots of photos..haha!!!
